MY DAD
"Yes, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me"- Psalm 23:4
Dad…..you held me as a baby
Put training wheels on my first bike
Took me sledding, trick or treating, taught me to fly a pretty kite
You loved the summer weather
The sun, the warmth and fresh air
I can see you sitting on the deck you built with the paper and a beer
You always said "Hi Honey"
I can see you in my mind
Always right there to help me, so loving and so kind
You worked so hard, were never sick
My dad so brave and strong
One day you fell so ill, we knew something was terribly wrong
They diagnosed you in mid January
And I developed a special bond with you
I wanted to take care of you, for it's all I felt I could do
For 7 months you tried to fight
Oh, all that you went through
Then the cancer took you August 5th of the year 2002
I saw the last breath you took
I was there at the very end
I cried 'Daddy, go to Heaven' I miss you, my father, my friend~
I created this poem on January 1, 2003 in loving memory of my Dad
'Thank you dear Gina for this graphic!'

The MP3 song you are hearing is "Calling All Angels" by Jane Siberry (lyrics below) you may need to download a media player to hear this beautiful song, if so, click the icon below
God looked around His garden and found an empty space,
He then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest,
God's garden must be beautiful He only takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain.
He knew you might never get well upon this earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine"
It broke Mom's heart to lose you but you never went alone
For part of her went with you the day God called you Home.
"Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted."- Matthew 5:4

Santa Maria, Santa Teresa, Santa Anna, Santa Susannah,
Santa Cecilia, Santa Copelia, Santa Domenica, Mary Angelica,
Frater Achad, Frater Pietro, Julianus, Petronilla,
Santa, Santos, Miroslaw, Vladimir
and all the rest
A man is placed upon the steps, a baby cries...
high above the church bells start to ring ~
And as, the heaviness, the heaviness...oh...settles in,
somewhere you can hear a mother sing
Then it's one foot, then the other, as you step out on the road ~
Step out on that road ~
How much weight? how much?
Then it's how long? And how far?
And how many times...oh... before it's too late?
Calling all angels ~
Calling all angels ~
Walk me through this one,
don't leave me alone ~
Calling all angels ~
Calling all angels ~
We're tryin', we're hopin',
but we're not sure how this goes.....
Ah, and every day you gaze upon the sunset
with such love and intensity.
Why it's, almost as if..oh...
if you could only crack the code,
then you'd finally understand what this all means
Ah, but if you could...do you think you would...
trade in all, all the pain and suffering?
Ah, but then you'd miss
the beauty of the light upon this earth
and the sweetness of the leaving
Calling all angels ~
Calling all angels ~
Walk me through this one,
don't leave me alone ~
Calling all angels ~
Calling all angels ~
We're tryin', we're hopin',
but we're not sure how....
Calling all angels ~
Calling all angels ~
Walk me through this one,
don't leave me alone ~
Calling all angels ~
Calling all angels ~
We're tryin',
we're hopin',
we're lovin',
and we're hurtin',
we're cryin',
we're callin',
'cause we're not sure how this goes….
